This page provides accessibility-related information for software tools distributed via NutritionModels.com. It describes the scope of accessibility support, identifies products for which Accessibility Conformance Reports are available, and clarifies the status of legacy software that predates modern accessibility standards. Accessibility statements on this page are intended to support transparency and informed use. Due to differences in platform architecture, software age, and original design intent, not all tools distributed via NutritionModels.com are subject to the same accessibility evaluation or reporting framework.

Accessibility

NutritionModels.com is committed to supporting accessibility and usability for a diverse range of users, including individuals with disabilities.

The software tools distributed via NutritionModels.com include both Microsoft Excel–based models and compiled Windows desktop applications. Accessibility support for these products relies on the accessibility features provided by their underlying platforms, including Microsoft Excel, the Microsoft Windows operating system, and standard Windows user interface controls.

Accessibility Conformance Reports (ACR), based on the Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT 2.5Rev INT, April 2025), have been prepared for the following product categories:

These reports describe the extent to which the products conform to applicable accessibility standards, including WCAG 2.0 Level A and AA and Revised Section 508 requirements, within the context of their respective platforms.

The ACR are available above for review. Users who encounter accessibility barriers or have questions regarding accessibility are encouraged to contact us.

Legacy NRC Software Notice

Certain historical software tools distributed via NutritionModels.com were originally developed by the National Research Council (NRC) prior to the establishment of modern accessibility standards and were not designed for use with contemporary assistive technologies, including:

Beef Cattle Nutrient Requirements Model (NRC, 1996; 2000)

The Beef Cattle Nutrient Requirements Model (NRC, 1996; 2000) was originally developed for MS-DOS / PC-DOS systems. To preserve continued access, the software is distributed using the DOSBox emulator under the auspices of the National Animal Nutrition Program (NANP). Due to the limitations of the original DOS-based architecture and emulator environment, this software does not conform to current WCAG or Section 508 accessibility standards.

Dairy Cattle Nutrient Requirements Model (NRC, 2001)

The Dairy Cattle Nutrient Requirements Model (NRC, 2001) was originally developed using Microsoft Visual Basic 6. The software has been maintained and updated by the Nutrition Modeling Committee of the National Animal Nutrition Program (NANP) to support execution on modern Windows operating systems. However, as a legacy application, it was not designed to meet current accessibility requirements.

These legacy tools are provided for historical reference and continuity of scientific use. Accessibility Conformance Reports (ACR) have not been prepared for these products. Users seeking accessible alternatives are encouraged to consult more recent NRC/NASEM models and modern decision-support tools.
